Blown Away

Oh my gosh.
Was watching the concert that David Foster had on DVD, with many many artists who sang many many familiar and fantastic songs. It was my plain ignorance that David Foster had written/co-written so many of those songs that I’ve heard umpteen times before. I didn’t even know who David Foster was!
There was a live orchestra, with Foster and his grand piano taking centre stage; as artists came up one-by-one to sing their songs.
Andrea Bocelli; Celine Dion; Peter Cetera; Katharine McPhee; Josh Groban…
I got goosebumps while listening to some of the songs because they were so well-sung.
Absolutely awesome.

After signing the petition, I received an e-mail.
I’m impressed. This is mightily applicable to my studies right now; and I must say, I think RW made a right reactive move.
Hopefully they deliver this kind of attitude all the way.
Say NO.

Some of you may not care.
Some of you may even advocate it.
But these gentle giants of the sea have been swimming in the oceans for thousands of years; they belong to the vast oceans and should remain where their home is.
They are entitled to roam the world as we are.
Who are we to take them out of their home and place them in a stifling tank of water and be a public exhibit?
Who are we to decide where they live?
So, SAY NO.

For your information, these animals aren’t bred in captivity. For the aquarium to own a whale shark, they first have to capture it from the sea. This places a huge amount of stress on the animal, and most whale sharks caught for an aquarium die within a short time of their captivity.
Whatever for?
For our own selfish human interests? The animal is exploited to fuel the business person’s greed for traffic inflows and profits, and also the consumers’ want for fresh entertainment; the WOW factor.
Please. Help stop this inhumanity.
Eye of the Storm
March 17, 2009
What does it take to make a spot-on participation?? Why is it that I have to crack my head open to get a close-to-relevant comment/observation and some people can seemingly make multiple “spot-on’s” so effortlessly??
I want that kind of brain capacity and processing speed…
Anyway, I likened the couple of weeks about a month back to being in the eye of the storm – an unsettling kind of calm. A kind where the future weeks seemed ominous and what’s calm right now could mean catastrophic chaos in the near future.
Now, the storm has arrived.
It’s time for sleepless nights, endless meetings and tight project deadlines..

My first Risk game.. I agreed to play after some persuasion. And Bry asked if I can try not to lose on purpose.
In the end..
I WON!

“The _____ ”
March 8, 2009
Oh, on another note, I don’t understand why people have to refer to other people who are close to them as “The something something” on their blogs. Like, “The Boyfriend and I decided to go East Coast for lunch”, or “The Mother asked if I wanted to go shopping”.
Once or twice for fun and endearment is digestible, but to use it as a permanent reference is… mildly insulting, isn’t it? Like that person has become a he/she-who-must-not-be-named.
I mean, I wouldn’t want to be permanently referred to as “The Girlfriend”, or “The Daughter”, or “The Friend”.
Fieldtrip to Mum’s herb garden
March 8, 2009
which essentially is just this small area on her balcony
It all started with this: Mum was so excited that her rosemary plant started flowering. I didn’t know rosemary plants actually bloom!
Mint plants
I don’t really know what this plant is.. I’m pretty sure it isn’t a herb. But it just looks pretty.
Fresh herbs in Singapore is probably one thing that gets any food-lover to be faint with exhilaration, especially when you can just head out to the balcony and cut it fresh from the plant. That’s why I keep gushing compliments to my mum, so she has no qualms about keeping those plants, since she doesn’t see why I’d want them so much because she doesn’t take to western cooking.
These plants owe their existence to me. Haha.
