FOOOOOOOD

This is dinner at my favourite japanese resturant – Nagae
Oh my.. the food is not like the general Japanese resturants around the neighbourhood.. this is THE BOMB.
Our individual setting
They let us choose our own sake cups
First dish: Some… marinated squid thingie
Next: Some fish innards. Haha. Left is fish liver, right is fish stomach. The fish stomach is one of the most exquisite I’ve ever tasted. It’s silky in texture and a little smokey in taste because the chef used a blow torch to glaze the surface.

Chawanmushi. Every little detail was paid attention to. Even the prawn was perfectly peeled. I can only imagine the poor cook in the kitchen peeling all the prawn to such perfection (Because I’ve been there, and I wasn’t even half as meticulous).
Freshly arrived salmon roe. The chef (Alex) topped the salmon roe with fresh parsnip and quince peel to offset the saltiness of the roe. Such thoughtfulness!
Sashimi. Extremely extremely stunningly fresh and sweet. Nothing like those from sushi tei.
Oysters. Tastes okay… oysterish. I’m not a huge fan of oysters.
Some pickled vegetable to eat on the side. It’s salty, a little sour, and crunchy.
Sanma fish. Also nothing like those from sushi tei. The meat on this one is so smooth and so delicate. Packed to its fins with Omega-3 oil.
Sushi soup! A must-have!
Dessert. Left is green tea ice cream with azuki, right is sakura ice cream (MINE!)
The chefs at the sushi counter – Left is Nagae-san, right is Alex

And a few days later, I volunteered to cook for Ling and Ting for one of our almost-weekly dinner together.
First course: Baked eggs and tomato
Main course: Mashed potatoes and chicken stew with hearty vegetables

Please remind me never EVER to mention my travel plans to anyone anymore because it seems that everytime I do, something will happen and my precious travelling plans will be dashed.
Which, in turn, makes me a very very frustrated person.
ARGH.

I love it!!
The artistic direction is really interesting such a genre of documentary. And I love the shrimp on the sea cucumber and nudibranch!!

Travel + Photography = Wall
November 11, 2009
Me is very proud of my travel photography wall.
I think I’ve managed to encompass most of the significant places that I’ve been. There’s diving in Sipadan/Kapalai and Dayang (didn’t add Burma Banks in though it was a fantastic trip), there’s Cambodia, Chinese paintings from Shanghai, New Zealand, Sikkim, and Alaska.
